A 49 year-old woman slumps as Court dissolves her 21-year-old marriage over childlessness. The both parties agreed to dissolve their marriage and the wife asked the court to grant her husband prayer of divorce. In view of this, the Court has no other choice than to grant the petitioner’s prayer for divorce. The marriage is hereby dissolved. The petitioner has waved the N25,000 bride price he paid. Court removes Adamawa lawmaker Bororo. The Federal High Court has sacked Member representing Mubi South Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assenbly, Hon Musa Umar Bororo. The Federal High Court II which sat in Yola Monday, ordered the member to vacate his seat with immediate effect for leaving the party under which he won election to the House. Bororo had in April last year left the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state into the governing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The high court, presided over by Justice Saleh Kogo, ruled that Bororo who got into the House of Assembly under the APC, ought not to defect to PDP and remain in office. Justice Kogo, however, dismissed suits filed against the member representing Mubi North, Hon Shuaibu Dan Musa and member representing Fufure/Gurin, Hon Shuaibu Babas who similarly defected from the APC to PDP at different times. ECOWAS Court Declares ‘Nigeria’s Cybercrime Act Section 24 Vague, Arbitrary, Unlawful’ The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has said that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Court has declared Section 24 of Nigeria’s Cybercrime Act vague, arbitrary and unlawful. SERAP said the ECOWAS Court gave the ruling in a suit it filed before the court, saying that Section 24 of the Cybercrime Act is contrary to the rule of law; therefore, the Nigeria Police cannot charge anyone with cyberstalking based on the provision of Section 24. Both PDP and Atiku, who are separately challenging the outcome of the election that was declared in favour of the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, told the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, that they were no longer interested in the application. THE COURT CONDEMNED THE TORTURE OF CLEMENT BY OFFICIALS OF THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT AND THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE

The court condemned the torture of Clement by officials of the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police Force. A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, ordered the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police to pay the sum of N5million as compensation to Adedotun Clement, an Uber driver who was publicly attacked, assaulted and humiliated by officials of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency and the Nigeria Police Force during the first anniversary of EndSARS in 2021. During the first anniversary of the EndSARS protest on 20th October, 2021, Clement was carrying a passenger from the Island to the Mainland part of Lagos, when he encountered the protest at the Lekki Toll Gate which was disrupted by officials of Lagos State and the police. Adeleke vs Oyetola: Appeal court reserves judgment in Osun governorship dispute The court of appeal in Abuja has reserved judgment in an appeal filed by Ademola Adeleke challenging his sack as Osun state governor. Hearing in the appeal started at about 10am on Monday and is presided over by a three-member panel of the appellate court. The panel of justices is led by M.F. Shuaibu. Adeleke was represented by Onyechi Ikpeazu while Oyetola was represented by Lateef Fagbemi. After taking submissions from the senior lawyers, the court reserved judgment for a date that would be communicated to parties in the suit. Presidential Election: BVAS Data Remain Intact After Reconfiguration – INEC Tells Court | The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said information in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, used for February 25 presidential and National Assembly polls are intact. The lead counsel to the Commission, Tanimu Inuwa, gave this assurance at the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Tuesday.
