Election Violence: 10 suspected armed thugs arrested in Enugu No less than 10 armed thugs were on Sunday rounded up by the men of Nigeria Army in Isi-Uzo local government council guest house at Ikem, Enugu state. The thugs were allegedly stationed in the guest house by the local government council chairman, Obiora Obeagu, for the purposes of the March 18 Governorship, Senate and House of Assembly elections in Enugu East Senatorial zone. The armed men were said to have been imported from Aguleri in Anambra state and quartered in the guest house waiting to unleash mayhem in the area on the day of the election. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State are the top candidates for the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in the next administration. The names of the two-term governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been submitted to President-elect Bola Tinubu, a source told Vanguard. The source stated that the selection of El-Rufai as SGF is being assessed against that of Ganduje, a close supporter of the incoming president. It is believed that the positions of SGF, Senate Presidency, and Speakership will be discussed during Monday's closed-door meeting at the State House in Abuja between the APC leadership and the party's National Assembly members-elect. It was learned that the allocation of roles will be thoroughly reviewed at the meeting in order to secure everyone's commitment to establish a united front before to the June inauguration of the tenth National Assembly.
