CHURCHES AND IGBO PEOPLE. IT IS HIGH TIME IGBO LOVE THOSE WHO LOVES THEM AND REJECT THOSE WHO REJECTED THEM. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
At the buildup to 2023 presidential primary elections, Redeem Christian Church of God inaugurated a department of Political Affairs Office and we all were happy that finally, big churches are beginning to see the need to stop been apolitical.
I was thinking this office was inaugurated for the benefit of all Christians aspiring for the highest political office of the land irrespective of your denomination but I was wrong. That office became totally useless immediately Osibanjo lost to Tinubu at the primary election.
When Peter Obi won the LP presidential primary election, I was thinking RCCG will support Peter Obi through the church Political Affairs Office and work towards his emergence as the next president of Nigeria , but I was wrong too.
Before the presidential primary election, every reasonable Nigerian was shouting to the ears of other Nigerians to support president of Nigeria of Igbo extraction for the sake of equity and justice. Obasanjo was the arrowhead of those making such a patriotic call from Southwest. When Osibanjo lost to Tinubu at the APC presidential primary election, RCCG's Political Affairs Office died immediately. It became obvious that the major aim the church Political Affairs Office department was inaugurated was solely to campaign and support Osibanjo even when RCCG leadership knows that an Igbo man should be supported to become a president of Nigeria. If Osibanjo had won the APC presidential primary, my fellow Igbo brothers in RCCG would have contributed money for his campaign.
How can Osibanjo finish 8yrs as a vice president and then become a president when no one from Igbo ethnic group has ever become a Nigerian president. Does it mean there is no Igbo man in RCCG they could have supported to become Nigerian president? Isn't this tribalism in church?
It is so painful to see those who supposed to support you get your rightful place opted to join in cheating you when you are crying that you are been cheated . But let me thank all the RCCG members who chose to support Peter Obi even when their church leadership was silent on the issue.
I specially thank pastor Abioye and Bishop Oyedepo who directly campaigned for Peter Obi. But our big daddy of RCCG never made a compelling remark in support of Peter Obi. He instead chose to be on the fence. His church, RCCG is the only investment Yoruba people has in Igboland. That is where they collect from our people instead of giving them. The church is scattered everywhere in Igboland milking our ignorant people in the name of tithes and offerings but none of them is considered worthy to become the president of Nigeria.
It is high time we love those who loves us and reject those who rejected us. Enough is Enough!
