IGBO PEOPLE; OUR LAME EXCUSES AND UNTAPPED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN SOUTHEAST.

IGBO PEOPLE; OUR LAME EXCUSES AND UNTAPPED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN SOUTHEAST.

We have given so many reasons as been the reasons why our region is not allegedly viable for businesses. Most times, we have mentioned the unavailability of Seaports and International airports in Eastern NIGERIA as the reasons why we have chosen not to headquartered or establish our businesses in the East.

To me, whenever I see these types of comments in the comments sections of many social media blogs , I can't help but shake my head in disbelief. It is a big lie that must not continue to fly anymore. With or without seaports and international airports cited in the East, businesses has been thriving in the East.

When you look at the likes of Innoson Motors of Nnewi who is currently building another mega car assembling plant which will be bigger than the existing one already, you did wonder how he is succeeding without any seaport and international airports in the East. We have so many manufacturing companies in Southeast doing well without any seaport been cited in the East.

They imports the law materials they needed through Lagos or PH seaports and also exports their finished goods to African countries through Lagos and PH seaports. Imagine if someone like Ibeto , Chikason, Gabros Cutix Cable and many other industrialists in Southeast were waiting until Southeast has a functional seaports and international airports before they could start building industries in Southeast, it mean by now, Southeast would have remain a region without a single industry.

My dear Igbo people, you have no acceptable reasons not to cite at least a small scale company that can employ up to 50 people in your home town even if it is a pure water company. Southeast is currently the most unexplored region very fertile for all kinds of businesses excluding buying and selling.

With just two or three plastic grinding machines, you can cite a plastic recycling plant in your village. Plastic production companies will definitely patronize you. You can cite a volleyball/Lawn Tennis bar in your village because in your village, there should be enough land for it. Just build a volleyball court and then encircle it with chairs and table where the spectators will sit, buy beer, palm wine and bush meat and get entertained with volleyball/lawn tennis match. By establishing this, the youths of your village will get their sporting skills developed.

The cities has been saturated with various businesses. It is unfortunate that most times, about ten shops are selling same thing in one streets. Most of these businesses lacks the abilities to renew their rents once they exhaust the first rent they paid. It is foolishness to gather money in the village and took it to the city to establish yourself only for the money to vanish within a year due to so many expenses. People must look beyond doing Okada business in the villages. Forget about learning how to sew clothes, learn about how to sew bags and be supplying your finished products to the retailers in your village and beyond.

I repeat, there are so many untapped business opportunities in Southeast which you can conveniently establish with lesser capital and forget about migrating to major cities like Lagos and thereafter start saying that you left Southeast to Lagos because there is no seaports and international airports in Southeast. Enough of these lame excuses.

Enjoy your day.
