LIFESTYLE: IN POLITICS LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH! THE EMOTIONAL TRAUMA THE GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE OF LABOR PARTY IN LAGOS, GBADEBO VIVOUR IS PASSING THROUGH RIGHT NOW

LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH.

I can understand the emotional trauma the gubernatorial candidate of Labor Party in Lagos, Gbadebo Vivour is passing through right now. I believe his parents who are the architect of his political misfortune are also not happy right now. Gbadebo has opportunity to become Lagos state governors in 2023 but because of the intertribal marriage between his father (Yoruba) and his mother ( Igbo), his ambition has been dashed. His Yoruba people roundly campaigned against him and called him all sorts of names simply because his father was married to an Igbo woman. Because of that, he was not regarded as a Yoruba man.

It is important that when love is killing you suffery suffery, please remember not to put the future of your would-be children in jeopardy. What is the benefit of marrying out of love but your children will later in future be disallowed from attaining some certain elective positions in their state simply because they were products of intertribal marriage? Many people has lost opportunities, scholarships, employment and political appointment in Nigeria simply because they were products of intertribal marriage.

I am very much aware that the parents of Gbadebo would not be happy with what happened to their son. Their son may not be able to realize his political ambitions in Lagos because his father married an Igbo woman and he may also face the same humiliation in Abia state where his mother hails from if Abians decides to victimize him because his mother married a Yoruba man.

If you must marry from outside your tribe, It would be more beneficial to marry a Ghanaian or Cameroonian than to marry a Nigerian from another tribe. If Gbadebo's mother is from Ghana, no Yoruba person would have accused Igbo people of trying to take over Lagos through Gbadebo. Igbos wouldn't have face this unprecedented harassment we faced in various polling units across Lagos state yesterday.

As our society evolves politically, we are taking notes of what not to do so that our children will not be victimized for issues that are no faults of theirs. Please before you propose to her or accept his proposal, consider the future of the kids that would be the products of that marriage. What happened in Lagos during this gubernatorial election is an eye opener and it shows that LOVE alone IS NOT ENOUGH in any marriage. We must put other things into consideration before the marriage is consummated.
