I, FELT VERY SAD WATCHING AN ABROAD BASED NIGERIAN WEEPING OVER THE DECLARATION OF a PERSON WITH QUESTIONABLE CHARACTER AS THE NIGERIAN PRESIDENT-ELECT
I felt very sad watching an abroad based Nigerian weeping over the declaration of a person with questionable character as the Nigerian president-elect
. I was wondering why he was troubling himself since he is not living in this hellish Nigeria. At least those of us who has not stepped our feet even in nearby Togo should be the ones crying and not him.
Then it dawned me that the reasons why he was crying was because of Nigeria image percep in international community. Imagine a foreign media reporting that a "Nigerian multimillionaire whom was accused of been a drug kingpin" has won Nigerian presidential election. This is very embarrassing.Nigeria has a very low or non existing good international perception image. Our people trying to migrate abroad faces a lot of humiliations in different European embassies in Nigeria and we also faces a lot of humiliating searches in their airports just because we all including our leaders are considered potential fraudsters . There are some characters that ought not to context elective positions and not to talk of winning them.
Although every accused person is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, but as for me, they must not be seen contesting election until they were able to clear their names.
How would you feel as a Nigerian living in Belgium when you see their newspapers reporting that a person accused of been a drug kingpin won Nigerian presidential election? How would the citizens of Belgium perceives Nigeria as a country and the Nigerians that voted for an alleged drug kingpin? It is a pity that our international image ratings will drop to all time low.
If you rigs election to become a president, what moral right do you have to send police to arrest Yahoo boys? What moral right do you have to tell kidnappers that what they are doing is not right? What moral right do you have to arrest those who embezzled money in previous government and those who embezzled money in your own government? You can't rig, steal or even kill people to become a governor or a president and later you begin to condemn rigging, stealing and killings. You don't have moral right to condemn these societal vices.
Anybody who is happy in what INEC did last Saturday should be ashamed of himself/herself. You are happy that someone's mandate was stolen. Let me assure you that one day, same thing will happen to you. Someone will take what is due to you and you will cry and wail but no one will console you . It might be promotion, job , gift , blessings, etc, someone will surely steal them from you . Others will rejoice over your loss just as you are rejoicing over the loss of Peter Obi's mandate. When it happens, you will never know that you are paying for your sins here on earth.
I will never congratulate anyone who stole someone's mandate. Because if I do, my mandate/blessings will also be stolen by someone someday. As for the president of Ghana whom has congratulated Tinubu, his mandate too shall be stolen from him. As for the British prime minister whom has congratulated Tinubu, his own mandate too shall be taken away from him.
It is high time we begin to call a spade a spade. Right now, only the judiciary can save the situation. Nigeria has been ridiculed enough in international community. And only the restoration of Peter Obi mandate as the authentic winner of 2023 presidential election is what can restore Nigeria's international perception index rating to its all-time high.
