MOVING WITH DETERMINATION AS THE WORDS FROM PETER OBI MADE US ALL TO BURY TRIBALISM AND RELIGIOUS SENTIMENT.
Nigerian youths came under the umbrella of Obi-dient movement to take back their country from corrupt pol!ticians. We voted massively for Peter Obi and to us , he won but to INEC, he lost. We were moving with determination as the words from Peter Obi made us all to bury tribalism and religious sentiment. Nigerians from all works of life both home and abroad queued behind Peter Obi. For once in this country, we loved one another and watched one another's back. For the first time, Muslims in the North voted for a Nigerian from the East.
During the gubernatorial elections, Obi-dients across the federation voted for individuals and not parties especially in states where LP doesn't have a gubernatorial candidate. Everything was going find across all states in Nigeria except Lagos. Some Obi-dients from Lagos suddenly believed the jargons APC politicians sold to them that Igbo people are scheming to takeover Lagos through the Labor Party gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo. How could you believe such a falsehood?
Before our eyes, those who supported and voted Peter Obi suddenly believed that Igbo people are scheming to takeover Lagos. My problem is not with politicians. My problem is you that believed such a jargon. My problem is you that suddenly began to call Igbo people all sorts of names, break their shops and looted their goods and maimed some of them.
Today, internet is filled with the ripple effects of your tribal sentiments against the Igbo people. Marriages are been broken. Weddings between a Yoruba and Igbo couples are been cancelled as parents withdraws their support. Churches are not left out as people are beginning to worship in churches been pastored by their tribal man. People are planning to diversify their businesses out of Lagos. Nigerians living abroad are tearing their passports and denouncing been a Nigerian, old wounds are been reopened and millions of Nigerians within an eventful election week that supposed to bury our differences forever, has lost hope in the country totally.
Like I said, politicians are not the problem, the problem of Nigeria is you that believes their jargons.
It is well with Nigeria.
